Visit The Guitar Classroom to get your online guitar lessons

Back when I gave learning guitar for the first time there were no websites to help me out. I was on my own and lost, eventually giving up and giving my acoustic guitar away in frustration. Today we do have help, the Internet. Conduct a simple search for learning how to play guitar and you’ll find tons of great info spread all over the world wide web, free and paid lessons.

It’s the Internet so you are going to find both good and not so good quality guitar playing content so if you’re going for more than just free stuff you want to find something you can get a refund with if it sucks like some I’ve tried.

Jamorama for me personally is at the top of the list when it comes to guitar training courses, both for beginner and advanced guitar players. They also have a 100% satisfaction or your money back policy.

Wondering If Jamorama Is For You

Jamorama is a guitar instructional course that is mostly focused on the beginner guitar playing. Jamorama uses written lessons to teach you how to play, they also use audio and video, which is my favourite method of learning the fundamentals of playing guitar.

Guitar Chords – With more than 250 pages you won’t be lacking for guitar playing lessons. Part of what you’ll learn in the lessons are a variety of guitar chords and you can combine the various chords into great sounding sequences.

Strumming Your Guitar – It’s not just learning chords that’s important so Jamorama teaches you some rhythm. I must admit this is where I needed the most work but was so worth my time learning.

Learn To Play Guitar Through Video Demonstrations – Finding chords and songs online was easy however learning to play them was a whole different story. So the fact that Jamorama has written lessons that include video demonstrations, well it just rocks. There are more than 140 that will show you how top play each song, exactly as it should be.

I love having audio as well so I have something to play along with while I’m learning new things. Jamorama has 26 audio files you can jam along with.

Reading Music – This is where it gets interesting. Learning to read music isn’t really hard, it just looks that way.

If I could have played by ear way back in the 70s when I first tried I would likely have never quit. That’s why it’s so cool that they include software to help with learning to play by ear. Today I can sit down with my guitar and even though I have to work at it I can learn to play the songs by listening.

Jamorama is a great investment in your guitar playing future and is worth far more than what you’ll pay. It’s cheaper than taking guitar lessons with an instructor and your time is your time. You don’t have to wait a week between lessons either.

Taking guitar lessons to learn how to play guitar changed my life in more ways than I could ever imagine, plus I have made so many new friends since.

Readers that are trying to find info about the topic of find a cheap playstation 3, then please make sure to visit the page that is mentioned right in this line.

Visit The Guitar Classroom to get your online guitar lessons

Chords and scales are the most important part of learning to play the guitar. There are actually thousands of chords and not all of them are essential. You want to know A B C D E F G and their minors as well. Once you have learnt those, you need to learn 7th chords. These are the most basic chords you need to know.

If all you need is the pictures for guitar chords, the best place to go to is:

all-guitar-chords.com

This will show you more chords than you will need to know or use.

There is an easy way to learn chords that just requires memorizing a few chords and the notes of the 5th and 6th strings (the two low strings).

Go to website mentioned and look at the E Major chord. The diagram doesn’t show the fingerings, but the text books normally state to place the first finger on the third string, the second finger on the fifth string, and the third finger on the fourth string.

What you can do instead, is to raise up the first finger and use the second finger on the third string, the third finger on the fifth string, and the little finger on the fourth string.

While maintaining the fingers on the strings, run them up the neck to a different position and put the first finger across the strings, forming a bar, at the fret below the second finger.

This now allows you to play any major chord by moving the chord to a different fret. The root note of the chord is on the sixth string, meaning you will need to learn the notes on the sixth string.

Open – E, 1st fret – F, 3rd – G, 5th – A, 7th – B, 8th – C, 10th – D, 12th – back to E and so on. The sharps and flats are at the frets inbetween. You’re playing an A Major chord if you’re first finger bar is at the fifth fret.

Let’s now look at the A Minor chord. It’s the same chord but with the third string now played open. You can use the same principle to play this Minor chord at any position on the guitar neck.

We’ll now look at the E7 chord, not the Emaj7, this is a different chord. Again, it’s the same as the E Major chord, this time it’s the fourth string that’s played open. And again, it can be played at any fret on the neck.

You can now play any Major, Minor, or 7th chord just by learning one chord and moving up or down the neck.

If you don’t desire to keep moving your hands up and down the neck so much to change chords, you can use another chord shaping.

This time, take a look at the A Major chord. Here you can see that the root note is on the fifth string. Instead of holding the three notes down with individual fingers, I place the third finger across the three strings and use the first finger to bar the remaining strings when I move it up the neck of the guitar.

Playing the chord this way, you might find that the first string gets muted. It just takes practice, but it might not matter too much if you are playing rock with distortion. Also note, it shows that you don’t play the sixth string. You can because that note is part of the chord. The reason they show the sixth string as not played is because the lowest note played is supposed to be the root note of the chord, which is the fifth string.

Whether you play the sixth string or not is up to you. Whether the first string is played or muted, again it’s up to you.

To use this chord, you need to learn the notes on the fifth string.

Open – A, 2nd fret – B, 3rd – C, 5th – D, 7th – E, 8th – F, 10th – G, 12th – back to A and so on.

So now, if you’re playing a G chord at the third fret with the E style chord, you don’t have to go all the way up to the eighth fret to play C. Just raise the third and little fingers and place the third finger down across the second, third, and fourth strings, with the first finger still maintaining the bar at the third fret.

You should be getting the idea now, you can do the same with the A Minor chord and A7 chord.

An easier way to play the A7 chord is to leave the third finger bar in place from the A Major chord and lay the little finger on the third fret of the first string. This still gives the A7 chord and can still be played at various positions on the neck.

Now on to power chords. These are really easy. Say you want a G power chord. Find the G note on the sixth string which is at the third fret. Place your first finger there. Place your third finger two frets up on the fifth string which is the fifth fret. That’s your G power chord.

This is actually a G5 chord, theoretically. The note on the fifth string is the fifth note of the G Major scale.

This can also be done up and down the fret board.

You can also do this using the fifth and fourth strings with the note on the fifth string being the root note.

You can also do the power chords with three strings. With the G power chord, place the third finger over both the fourth and fifth strings at the fifth fret. This note on the fourth string is another G note one octave higher.

With the fifth string root note power chord, move the third finger down on to the fourth string leaving the first finger barring both the fifth and sixth strings. The extra note on the sixth string is another fifth note of the major scale an octave lower.

Visit The Guitar Classroom to get your online guitar lessons

There are a few questions that people ask when they are thinking about learning the guitar. Hopefully, I’m going to answer those questions.

The first question is:

How to learn guitar?

There are a number of ways to learn how to play guitar.

1)Get a friend or relative to learn you.

This is a good idea just to get someone to show you at least how to hold the guitar and play the strings and hold down the strings at the frets. If you’re just beginning and have not picked up a guitar before, this is a great way to get started and won’t cost anything. Don’t rely on this method alone. Just get the very basics and then start to learn yourself from the other methods. You can let your friend show you some tips and tricks later on when they have time.

2)Buy a book.

This is okay to show you how to hold and play the guitar, but not as good as having someone in front of you showing you. It’s not free unless you can find a good book at the library. The cost of guitar books varies from cheap to costly, although you might be able to find them at charity shops. I find that books are good for learning theory. Depending on what style of guitar you want to learn, you might not need to learn too much theory. The more theory you can learn the better, but you can always do that as you are advancing.

3)Buy a DVD or video.

I’ve never been a big a fan of practicing this method alone. Sitting in front of the television screen or computer monitor watching somebody tell you to position this finger here and that finger there. It’s good for showing you the basics of playing the guitar and some techniques such as bends, slides, and hammer ons, etc.

4)Pay a guitar teacher to teach you.

This could be the most costly way to learn the guitar. I’ve seen friends and relatives kids play songs better than me and I’ve felt pretty stupid. But, that’s all they’re being taught, just songs. I comfort myself by saying yes, you can play that song, but how much has it cost your parents. I’ve seen a video of a friends girl performing on stage with other students and she played a popular song perfectly, even the solo. She actually played it better than the original guitarist used to play it live. Only all she was doing was playing notes that she’d learnt parrot fashion. There wasn’t any emotion or enthusium on her face. If someone said play that in a different key or improvise and create your own solo, she probably wouldn’t have been able to. Incidentally, the guitar lessons have finished and I don’t think she plays the guitar much now.

5)Learn guitar off internet .

This can be free, cheap, or dear. There’s so much info on learning to play the guitar on the internet, this must be a good source. Once you can hold and play your guitar, or even before, explore the net for free online courses. When you’re ready, there’s a lot of good low cost or free stuff that will improve your playing. Don’t be fooled into buying high cost courses that you can’t afford or don’t need. Learning to play the guitar off the net has all of the the advantages of the other methods. You can learn as little or as much theory as you want to. You can have someone on the computer screen in front of you showing what to do and how to do it. You can download the information on to your computer and do it in your own time and at your own pace. You can download the guitar tabs to songs you want to learn.
How difficult is it to learn to play guitar?

It’s not difficult at all. It just depends on how much you want to learn it. When I told my brother I wanted to learn the guitar, he was already playing bass guitar in a group, he told me it’s easier to learn the piano. It might be but I didn’t want to learn to play the piano. In reality, it’s much easier playing guitar with guitar tabs than it is the piano with standard music notation.
How long will it take to learn how to play guitar?

As much time as you put into it. It’s a process and you will never perfect it, so the time is forever. But to get just enough to know how to play many songs, not that long, just a total of several hours. But if you want to become an artist, write songs, etc. That takes the time and passion. And when you have the passion the time gets away from you.

I fully understand the reason you desire to learn to play the electric guitar. I appreciate this mainly because I became the exact same way. You really want to try out because there’s no better experience inside world rather than to impress other people by performing a number of of the favorite songs!

It truly is an remarkable feeling as soon as you start to put together the chords and make real music. Then the buzz you receive by performing some riffs is virtually out of this world.

Thus, precisely how can you learn to play the electric guitar within the simplest way possible and grow to be a guitar God? These are 3 hints to get started with your advancement:

1. Figure out the primary chords – this, for me, is regarded as the boring part! But, it is necessary. You have to discover the basic chords if you want to learn to play the electric guitar. What I intially did was make use of a book to understand the best way to see the chords and the way to position my fingers. Big mistake – learning by reading the sunday paper was horrible because I needed no reference point, some pictures from the chords. I didn’t know if my fingers were positioned correctly or if the sound was right. You’re far better off either buying a DVD or joining one of many online guitar courses in order to see what to perform.

2. Practice, practice, practice – yeah, I realize you hear this all the time, “if you need to learn to play the electric guitar, you have to practice!” And practicing is no fun – you just wish you could grab your guitar and commence playing. But it isn’t really so easy my friend. Do you believe Angus Young, Joe Satriani, or Eddie Van Halen one day picked up playing the guitar, learned some chords and became a rock star? Nah, didn’t happen. You must set aside time almost any day to apply to obtain the chords right along with the fingers working. The more you practice, the quicker you’ll become a guitar God.

3. Play in addition to songs – after you receive the basic chords down so you practice to which you could move in one chord to another location fluidly, start playing along with your favorite songs. Get some jam tracks to learn as well as. By the process, 1) you’ll get better and, and two) you’ll have a heck of your lot more fun. You will in reality start to learn to play the electric guitar at an accelerated pace after you start jamming along for some songs.

After these three things, heaven is the limit really since start learning hammer-ons, pull-offs, bending and pinch harmonics (in case you are into rock or metal) or you can learn some picking techniques and develop your speed to acquire that fluid, rocking sound.

You truly have zero excuse Never to be a Guitar God. Get off the sofa and learn to play the electric guitar now!

Visit The Guitar Classroom to get your online guitar lessons

Far too often, beginners who only recently picked up the guitar approach the instrument all wrong. They learn a couple tabs to some songs they like, disregard the actual difficulty of the song or chords, learn the chords one after the other, and then try to play up to tempo with the actual song. I have no problem with the concept of learning the guitar through learning songs you like; however, the methodology of learning and then practicing that favorite song is often detrimental to one’s growth as a musician and guitar player.

The following principles can and should be applied to learning and practicing any song on guitar:

Find a song within your skill range

This sounds obvious, but it is undoubtedly the most common problem among beginning guitar players. An easy song doesn’t have to be a dumb or boring song either. The classic Flaming Lips song, “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 1,” is essentially five chords (okay, six if you count the Fmaj7, but that’s only one note different from F). In fact, most Flaming Lips songs are about four or five basic chords. A good benchmark for how difficult a song should be for you is how many new chords you are learning. If it’s one or two new chords, you’ll be in good shape. If you don’t know any chords, look for songs with chords like C, D, A, E, and G; these are basic chords that are in a large amount of songs.

Don’t copy the rhythm of the guitar part … yet

You just learned the five chords to “Yoshimi,” great! Please don’t fall into the trap of trying to play the entire song and thinking it sounds good because it slightly resembles the recorded version. For a first play-through, try to only strum a chord when there’s a chord change. For this exercise, it is perfectly acceptable and a good idea to follow along with the recording, singing if you’d like. Once you feel like you’ve got that under control, try strumming a chord every two beats (the downbeats between snare hits), and then every downbeat. Eventually, you can try strumming twice every beat (playing eighth notes), and, depending on how fast the song is, you can even play sixteenth notes if you want to be uber-pro.

Now learn the guitar rhythm

Eventually, of course, you will want to learn the exact rhythm of the guitar part. If you practiced the chords and rhythm as just described, chord changes will become immensely easier and you will have better control with your strumming to play complicated or fast rhythms. More importantly, you won’t look and sound like one of those guitar noobs who slow down the tempo or ruin the guitar rhythm pattern for every chord change.

Use music tools to help you perfect the song

Play the song slowly when you are trying to copy the rhythm exactly. There is some software out there that can slow down songs for you, if you would still like to be able to play with the recording. Or you can be old school and use a metronome, increasing the tempo incrementally as you maintain good sound quality.

Listen to yourself practice

Record and listen to yourself practice. This is by far the best and most overlooked method of practice. You only need a tape recorder, cell phone recorder, or microphone for your computer, and the benefits are astounding. There’s simply so much more you notice while listening to a recording that you don’t notice while playing.

Learning how to play the guitar isn’t difficult especially if the beginner includes a adoration for guitars. Part of the learning process is learning how you can tune the guitar. Tuning the guitar might seem very difficult much more fact it is not. Here are a few quick steps to understand how to tune your guitar:

The guitar player should first identify if the guitar is within or out of tune. A guitar has run out of tune when the chords are played but the sounds don’t seem right which means that it’s time to tune the guitar.

The sixth string is usually the string that is forever in tune because it is the biggest string and doesn’t walk out tune easily.

When tuning the fifth string, all a person has to do is place the finger on the sixth string on the fifth fret. He is able to then strike the sixth string. Next, he can strike the fifth string. When the sounds created were not exactly the same, he is able to result in the fifth string tighter or loosen it depending how low or high the pitch is becoming.

The individual can do the same process on the fourth and third strings placing the higher string on the fifth fret and striking it. He then can strike the lower string and when they do not create the same pitch, he can either loosen or tighten it.

When tuning the second string, he is able to put the finger in the third string on the fourth fret and only tighten or loosen the third string to match the noise of the second string.

Placing the finger on the second string and press on the fifth fret would be the approach to tune the very first string and then he is able to strike and follow by striking the first string open. He can either tighten or loosen the second string to match the sound of the first string.

To check on to find out when the guitar is within tune, all he has to do is consider using a chord. If the guitar still does not sound in tune, he is able to do the procedure again until they can fine-tune the guitar.

This is actually the easiest way of tuning a guitar. There are also electric techniques to tune a guitar, but this traditional technique is the most efficient. When a beginner is able to learn to tune a guitar, learning to play it will do not be very difficult.
