You want to learn to play guitar, so you get yourself a guitar, and you start to look for guitar lessons. You go online and you type into your search box “free guitar lessons”. You add “free” to “guitar lessons” because you do not want to spend any money on guitar lessons, or you think it is very easy to find free guitar lessons on the Internet. Well, it is indeed very easy, I just did a search for free guitar lessons and I came up with 11.400.000 results.
If you, like I did, look further, you will find that free is rather limited. You get free lessons, but most sites who provide them only provide some teaser lessons, to give you a little taste of what they offer, which, of course, is not for free at all.
So you go on to the next site, and the next, etc. You can learn to play guitar that way, but I do not think it is the right way to learn to play guitar. To do so I think you should get a full guitar course, so you can study in a structured kind of way.
Free guitar lessons are by no means a bad idea, it gives you some indication about the site that provides these free lessons, so you have an idea about their paid lessons.
That is why The Guitar Classroom publishes a few free guitar lessons as well. We have some lessons from Team Method, a guitar course from Ben Edwards, founder of Jamorama. Check out some free guitar lessons from Team Method
We also have free guitar lessons from Jam Play and a few from Guitar Tricks, you will find them here:
Free guitar lessons from Jam Play
and here:
Free guitar lessons from Guitar Tricks
As I said before, free lessons are most of the time provided as a teaser, the provider wants to give you a bit of a taste of what you can expect if you buy their product, or sign up for their guitar course.
The Guitar Classroom is no exception, we provide these lessons only to give you an idea of what you can expect if you sign up, either with Team Method, Jam Play or Guitar Tricks.
If you are looking for free guitar lessons think about it this way. Why would anybody go to all the problems of creating guitar lessons, putting them online, etc. for people they do not know at all? There must be a catch, people do not do this. The catch is very simple, free guitar lessons are teaser lessons, designed to give you a taste for the paid lessons. Nothing wrong with that, as long as this is made very clear.
