Make 2010 the year you learn to play guitar

For all of our visitors who are unable to play the guitar I would say that I sincerely hope you finally make the decision to learn to play guitar. I am sure you will not regret it, next year, you will look back at 2010 and you will be happy that you decided to learn to play guitar, with a bit of luck you could even play, maybe together with some friends, at the new years party of 2011.
If someone would ask me what was the hardest part of learning to play guitar, I would say the beginning is the hardest part. Whatever you do when you begin it sounds awful, you fingers start to hurt pretty soon, and people around you will ask you to stop making that terrible noise.
But you have to get through this beginning part, there is just one thing you should always remember when you start to learn to play guitar: every guitarist was a beginner once, no matter how good someone can play the guitar, there was a time that he/she started to learn to play guitar and just sounded awful.
Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton or Neil Young, it is hard to imagine, but there was a time that you would not want to listen to them playing the guitar.
I am not saying that if you learn to play the guitar and you do study a lot, that you will be able to play as good as Eric Clapton, but everyone is able to learn to play the guitar in such a way that he will enjoy it.

Once you have gone through this beginning period, it gets a whole lot more fun. I am not saying it gets easier, but you will hear the results of your efforts almost daily and that will give you a lot of satisfaction. People around you will not ask you anymore to stop that noise, instead they will ask you to play a certain song, and if you know that song and play it they might sing along, or applaud after you played it, and that will give you a huge thrill.
You do not even need an audience to enjoy playing the guitar. Just playing on you own or with a few friends can be very satisfying.
