It is almost 2010, another year has gone by almost unnoticed. This time of year lots of people decide to do something, they decide to finally give up smoking, or start a new hobby, like guitar playing.
There are quiet a few people who think about these things, but in the end they do not do it, for various reasons. One reason they might have not to learn to play guitar is the fact that they think they are to old. They think guitar playing is for young people, but that is absolutely not true.
I think one of the reasons people think this way is because guitar playing is associated with rock stars. Most people think if you want to learn to play guitar, you want to become a rock star. Well, that is probably true for a lot of young folks, and most of them will not succeed. It takes a lot of talent, effort, work and luck to become a successful rock star.
However there are other reasons to learn to play guitar, and one of them is that it is just great fun. Playing guitar, on your own or together with a few friends can be very satisfying. Age is just not important, playing guitar is for all ages.
I am 58 years young, and when I was 20 I played in a rock group called “Nova Zembla”. We rehearsed almost every day, we played at a good few gigs, we wanted to become famous, but, as happens with most of these bands, we gave up after a few years, and everyone went his own way.
A few years ago we met up again, and we decided to start playing together again. Once a week we plug in our guitars, switch on the amplifiers and we rock like we did over 30 years ago. We do not want to become famous, in fact we do not want to perform for an audience, we just want to have fun, and that we have. I think we sound a whole lot better then we did all these years ago, but that is not the reason we come together, the main reason is IT IS FUN!!!
Why I am telling this? Well, if you think you are to old to learn to play guitar, you should think different. If you never before played guitar, there is a good course aimed at older people. It is called “Adult Guitar Lessons” and the creator of this guitar course for adults is Keith Dean, who has been a professional guitarist for over 30 years.
Keith has created a guitar course aimed at the older student, so if you are not a teenager anymore, but you still have the desire to learn to play guitar, you should check out this guitar course for adults.

If the guitar is a new instrument for you to play, and you are new to the world of music, making your choice at the music store can be very frustrating. There are options you can choose from and those technical terms bring a lot of confusion to the lay person. There is a solution to the problem.
Is there an age limit to start learning how to play the guitar and still have some sort of flexibility and memory to become an excellent guitarist?
Hi,
I think there is no age limit what so ever, as long as you are able to hold a guitar and play the strings you should be able to learn. Of course if you are 90 years old you will mot be able to become some rock star, but as long as your health is OK, you can learn to play the guitar.
