Hi,
I think there is no age limit what so ever, as long as you are able to hold a guitar and play the strings you should be able to learn. Of course if you are 90 years old you will mot be able to become some rock star, but as long as your health is OK, you can learn to play the guitar.

Is there an age limit to start learning how to play the guitar and still have some sort of flexibility and memory to become an excellent guitarist?

If the guitar is a new instrument for you to play, and you are new to the world of music, making your choice at the music store can be very frustrating. There are options you can choose from and those technical terms bring a lot of confusion to the lay person. There is a solution to the problem.
