Train both your relative and absolute pitch
Ever wondered how having a better pitch recognition would better your guitar playing? Now you can find out. We have found two resources that do just that, helping you to train your relative and absolute pitch recognition.
Relative pitch Is the ability to hear and comprehend the relationship between one note and another. In other words, a musical interval.
Absolute pitch Is the ability to hear a musical note or chord and name it.
This Kid Has Perfect Pitch
There is disagreement about the possibility to obtain perfect pitch recognition through training, some say this is possible, others say you have to be born with it. However you can train your sense of pitch, and improve it considerably.
Most professional musicians agree that a good sense of pitch is one of the most important qualities of good musicianship.
The Guitar Classroom has found two resources that could help you to improve your pitch recognition, one is called Pitch Master Pro and the other Pure Pitch, both are available for download at our guitar software page.
