There are a lot of people who already can play some guitar, but they want to improve their guitar skills. Lots of time they want to learn a certain style. One style they might want to perfect is the good old blues.

At first glance blues looks pretty easy to play, most of the time a blues song has only 3 chords, or even less. Blues is easy to play, if you are a beginner you can very soon play lots of blues songs. But to be good at playing the blues, that is a whole different ball game.

So, how do you become a good blues guitar player. Play blues guitar a lot, of course, listen to great blues guitar players, and watch blues guitar lessons on video.

If you search the Internet you find lots of blues guitar lessons on video, You Tube has hundreds. But after a while you could want more then all these free blues guitar video clips of a few minutes.

The Guitar Classroom has found a blues guitar course that could solve your problem. It is called Playing Through The Blues and it is quiet good.
Another way to master the blues guitar is to sing up for either Guitar Tricks or Jam Play.
Hawkeye Herman has over 40 years of performing experience, playing the blues and folk music he loves so very much.

Hawkeye Herman leads a very active touring schedule of performances at festivals, concerts, school programs and educational workshops throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He has build up a large faithful group of fans, due to his dynamic blues guitar playing and outstanding vocal abilities.

Hawkeye Herman was awarded Philadelphia’s Barrymore Award, in 2000, for Excellence in Theatre for best original music in a theatrical production.

“Everyday Living,” Hawkeye’s first nationally released album from 1987, now reissued on CD, features the late blues giants Charles Brown and “Cool Papa” Sadler, and established the demand for his now long-standing festival and concert touring.

His latest CD’s and DVD have gotten excellent reviews, they are : “Blues Alive!” (CD), “It’s All Blues To Me” (CD), and “Hawkeye Live In Concert” (DVD)

In 1998 Hawkeye Herman got the Blues Foundation’s “Keeping The Blues Alive” award for achievement in education.

For six years Hawkeye Herman served on the board of directors of the blues foundation, and Hawkeye was inducted into the Iowa Blues Hall of fame in 2004.

The BBC asked Hawkeye Herman, in September 2005, to compose a song to commemorate the Katrina hurricane disaster, which resulted in the song “Katrina, Oh Katrina (Hurricane Blues)”. The song was aired to over 7 million listeners on the popular “BBC Today” program.

“One of America’s finest acoustic guitarists and blues educators.”

Living Blues Magazine
“Herman plays with a sensitive, reflective touch that continually draws attention to his vocals, which are effectively understated and free of affectation… Herman can rock with the best of them. A solid choice for fans of traditional acoustic blues.”

Los Angeles Times
“…plays haunting music on a mournful guitar.”

Blues Access
“The only thing better than hearing this live album is seeing Hawkeye Herman in the flesh. Whether adding his own spin to blues classics or offering his own songs, Herman is a one-man history of blues, noteworthy guitar player and inimitable communicator. Miss him at your peril.”

Griff Hamlin’s 20+ years of teaching all wrapped up into a package that costs less that 1 private lesson.

A Step-By-Step Approach for learning to play the blues the right way. Instead of just learning some blues licks and experimenting, this system will show you exactly what to play and when.

Turnaround and Ending Licks. This additional e book contains an additional 20 turnaround and ending licks, in various keys, that you can use in your blues soloing. Many places charge as much for just a book like this as Griff does for his whole system! In addition to the book, there are, of course, audio examples for every lick.

Lifetime Updates. Yes, you read right, lifetime updates. Griff will be adding to the Playing Through The Blues members area as often as possible.

The electric guitar is a guitar with steel or nickel strings. The vibration of these strings is picked up and converts into an electrical current by so called pickups, and then amplified.

In 1931 the Rickenbacker company was the first to make electric guitars, this were normal hollow bodied guitars with tungsten steel pickups.

The first solid body electric guitar was made by Les Paul, but the first successful solid body electric guitar was the Fender Esquire, made in 1950.

The electric guitar played a major role in the development of musical styles such as blues, rock and roll, rockabilly and blues rock.
