Some beginners are intimidated by guitar tuning, but it’s really not that difficult. The first string you should tune is the low E, the uppermost and thickest string. To start the tuning process: play the first string and adjust the second strings tension until the two sound the same.

Now for step 3…tuning the D string (fourth). Once you have established your reference note, tune the string until it sounds precise against the reference. Turn the machine-head on the 4th string until the notes match. You have now finished tuning your guitar’s second string. Next string to tune is the B string, whose pitch you synchronize with the G string by touching THAT at the 4th fret. Once you cannot adjust the right tune, just relax and start from the beginning. Congratulations! Your 4th (D) string is now in tune!
Step 6: The last thing we need to do is tune your high E string, which is the first and thinnest on the guitar. Guitar tuning is the most vital skill that a novice guitarist should know.
